Feelings...

And then, someone you loved broke you. You just sat there quietly in your room, hoping they didn't do it. But they did and you were never the same.

And ever since, you've been hiding from the world. You had to become okay, or at least pretend to and somewhere in between, you lost that goofy person you once were.

Your jokes are cynical now, your laughter is constrained, your words are half-truths. I don't blame you for anything. Life has been unkind to you. Lovers you trusted, friends you believed in - they all disappointed you.

After they broke you, you were left with sharp edges. You push people away before they have a chance to know you. This wall you have built, a wall around you - it hides you from the world, but the problem is that you're now stuck behind this wall.

I wonder if you know - kindness cannot be hidden, there are going to be days when you won't have the energy to hide your kindness. On those days, you will give your seat to a stranger, or help someone cross the road.

You find it easier to show yourself to strangers because they don't know you, because they won't see you again. Expectations lead to disappointments, and you are someone who can't live with the guilt of knowing people were led on by you.

You break everyone's heart without hiding behind your words - in the simplest way possible, and often, it makes you look cruel.
